The Sciacchetrà is a sweet straw wine produced in the Cinque Terre and obtained from the grapes coming from the vineyards Bosco, Albarola and Vermentino.
If the origins of this name seems to be shrouded in mystery - some think it comes from the Semitic word "shekar" with which, 3,000 years ago in Palestine, the fermented drinks were called; others think that it comes from the dialect "sciacàa", meaning the Italian "schiacciare" (to crush), used to mean the pressing of grapes - it is certain that this fine wine has become the symbol par excellence of the Cinque Terre.
